Notable Advocacy
2021 Advocated to Arizona Department of Health Services, Maricopa County Department of Public Health, and the Arizona Governor to provide immunizations to private physicians to expand availability. By becoming the provider of Covid vaccines to Individuals with Developmental Disabilities in Group Settings, the Department of Health granted us the vaccines.
2016 Testified in Health Committee against legislation which would allow licensed naturopaths to provide vaccine exemptions in the state of Arizona. The legislation did not pass.
2015 Fought legislation which would allow Theranos to provide lab services in Arizona without a physician referral.
2008 Public campaign with the Phoenix Business Journal exposing the use of private patient information to market prescriptions directly to them, by CVS Caremark. Was eventually picked up by the Wall Street Journal, which then prompted a meeting with two Senior Vice Presidents from Merck.
2008 Publicly opposed at the State legislature the expansion of vaccine delivery at pharmacies.
2001 Advocated at the American Medical Association Organized Medical Staff Section to change EMTALA law so that it would not apply to offsite clinics of hospital systems. The EMTALA legislation was eventually changed.
1992 Asked the American Medical Student Association to grant a charter to the St. George’s University School of Medicine AMSA chapter. They did, giving SGUSOM the first charter granted to an offshore medical school.
